Earlier this month, Kontrol Energy’s BioCloud technology received a two million dollar investment from the Ontario government. Kontrol, a Canadian energy company with international collaborators, was founded in 2015, and has made a name for itself through it’s use of technological innovation to address modern problems, such as energy efficiency, air quality and carbon emissions.    Kontrol’s new BioCloud technology is a system designed to detect the ambient presence of COVID-19 in indoor air, and marks the company’s first shift to pandemic era solutions. While coronavirus air testing has recently experienced a technological boom, with companies such as eurofins, AssuredBio, and PathogenDx offering their own air testing technologies, the BioCloud system stands out as the sole…

US COVID-19 Testing Too Late Making Test Results Useless says Harvard Expert

By VP Staff on August 16, 2020 Diagnostics, Technology

Current tests for active infection of COVID-19 are given long after the infected person has stopped transmitting making results virtually useless for public-health efforts to contain the pandemic. Harvard professor makes the case that our current approach is all wrong. The vast majority of PCR positive tests we currently collect are finding people for whom we can’t even act because they are done transmitting and that rapid and inexpensive tests even with low sensitivity can better address the challenge. FDA policy is slowing these tests to market. AT THE MOMENT, THE UNITED STATES has no semblance of public-health testing” for…

The fingerprint blood test would take 15 minutes to administer at home to determine Coronavirus diagnosis without having to leave the living room. Management anticipates the rapid test kits will be available late May to June after getting approval from the Federal Drug Administration. 1 drop of blood. 15 minute reaction. This will tell someone if they have a natural immunity. This rapid serology test detects IgM and IgG antibodies against novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 in the blood, which indicates that a person has been exposed and developed antibodies against the virus. If someone isn’t currently experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, the test…

By VP Staff on April 8, 2020 Diagnostics Techreport, Technology

A Canadian company is pushing forward to developed to indicate a positive result only when the Covid-19 virus is present, allowing for direct and clear interpretation.  When completed, this test Covid-19 test is expected to produce results in 5-15 minutes and is anticipated to cost less than $50. It will not require any additional laboratory-based equipment and can be administered by a layperson at the point of care. Until now the majority of testing completed for Covid-19 uses molecular-based technology (PCR), a testing platform that typically costs more than $200 per test, frequently takes 2-4 hours to produce results, and…
